Women who built enterprises in Gujarat — and the schemes that fund the next ones

Eighteen women whose work is rooted in Gujarat, from the founder of SEWA to the artisans of Kutch and the dairy cooperatives of Banaskantha. Then twelve government schemes a Gujarati woman can actually apply to today.

The people

Eighteen women, verified

Cooperative organisers and craft entrepreneurs sit here alongside corporate founders, because in Gujarat that is where most of the enterprise actually happened. Where a source could not confirm a date or a figure, it is left out rather than guessed.

The money

Twelve schemes you can apply to

Central and Gujarat state schemes for women's enterprise and livelihoods. Amounts and eligibility change — confirm on the official link before you build an application around any figure here.

Compiled September 2026 from each organisation's own reporting, major Indian business press and official scheme portals. Several Gujarat government portals block automated access, so some state-scheme figures come from the State Level Bankers' Committee and launch-date press rather than the scheme portal itself — those are flagged on the individual cards. Scapex Foundation is not a government office and cannot process any application.
